The Bishop asked me to start a Provident Living blog for our ward. He is concerned about our welfare, and what we are doing to prepare ourselves physically and spiritually.
D&C 88:119:
I have a decorative board that I made to remind myself of this scripture. To remind myself of the things that are truly important, and goals that are worthwhile to work on.
Green Jell-O Staples:
When coming up with a name for the website, I was trying to come up with something catchy...but every time I summited something, it had been already used and it suggested a title with my name in it. Which I didn't want, because this isn't a personal blog about my life. I view it as a clearing-house of information, to help us all get our ducks in a row. I was then going to call it Mormon Salads, but I didn't want people to think it was a website to get recipes (though I'm sure there will be a plethora of them to share). And if any of you know my food likes and dislikes...what I call "Mormon Salads" (Anything that mixes Jell-O, with anything else! Or vegetables with weird things!), know that they are on my do not eat list. To all "Mormon Salad" fans among us, I do like Jell-O plain, and I make a mean Poke and Pour Cake!
So "Mormon Salads" got me to thinking about Jell-O, which led me to the old Jell-O with carrot floaties, to how I could tie in that this was a provident living blog... Wahhhla: Green Jell-O Staples. Green Jell-O just happens to be the flavor that sells the most in the states with high populations of LDS members.
In future blogs, you will find ways to organize everything under the sun, cooking and canning tips, budgeting ideas and much, much more. Don't be surprise if you are asked to be a featured "expert" on this adventure.
Like I mentioned before, I view this blog as a clearing-house of information, so click on the comments and leave your positive thoughts, tips, and reinforcement.

Since I don't do "Mormon Salads", here is my Poke and Pour Recipe that I use:
Poke and Pour Jell-O Cake
1 white cake mix
1 6 oz package Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
Prepare cake mix using directions on the box.
While cake is baking, pour contents of jell-o package into a metal bowl. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add to the gelatin.
Stir until gelatin dissolves. Add 1 cup cold water to the mixture. Set aside. Do not put it into the refrigerator.
When cake is done, let it cool for 5 minutes.
Poke holes in the top of the cake with a fork or straw.
Pour gelatin mixture over the cake evenly.
Refrigerate over night.
Serve with whipped cream spread over the top.
